I visited Mad Hatter on a vacation in 2021. The donuts were the best I’d ever had, and I’ve never forgotten them. When I was briefly in Sacramento in 2026, I made sure to visit again — and the donuts are every bit as wonderful as I remembered. (Try the OG glaze!!) Warm and friendly staff upgrade the whole experience to something personal and truly special.

Very fun and interesting location. I greatly enjoyed the powder donuts and flavored ice. Was quite refreshing and enjoyable while walking around. Definitely would go again.

Mad Hatter Donuts in Old Town Sacramento is a fun stop, though I’ll admit I came expecting a wider donut selection. They make their donuts fresh to order and let you customize them with your choice of glaze, cinnamon & sugar, powdered sugar, chocolate glaze, or caramel glaze. We tried the glazed, cinnamon & sugar, and powdered sugar - cinnamon & sugar was the clear winner. The glazed was our least favorite; a little heavy on the glaze. They also offer a variety of flavored ice cream, but the real standout was the flavored ice. It’s the best way I can describe it - somewhere between a sorbet and an ICEE. Unique and refreshing! Worth a visit if you’re exploring Old Town, just go in knowing the donut menu is simple and build-your-own style

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely delicious ice cream! The fresh waffle with the ice cream is honestly an incredible combination of flavors. Everything tasted fresh and high quality. The owner is also a very kind and приятный guy who creates a great atmosphere. Definitely coming back again!

This was th best hotdog ever had if you are in Sacramento and you need to show someone a glizzy take them here because they will be impressed. I loved the employees give them all a raise I actually started fighting a homeless man because he tried to take my hot dog it was that amazing!

This isn't a "doughnut" shop. The name of the place is misleading. If you are thinking of a local donut joint, this ain't it. Hole in the wall selling funnel cake batter mini donuts. Ours came out lukewarm at best. Standard fare. Below average. They have a larger variety of choice of ice cream and beverages. Without the Old Scramento tourist vibes and foot traffic, this place would be out of business. Don't fall for the corner location and the crowd in front (who also fell for the misleading sign).

We highly recommend Mad Hatter Dougnuts! First of all, their donuts are outstanding. They're like a light, fluffy funnel cake in donut form. The glaze and cinnamon-sugar toppings are the best. They also have excellent coffee and hot chocolate. We had a group of 35 that stopped by for treats, and they were very accomodating in getting our order down and correct (our folks were coming in with our orders as they were able, so it was a stream of orders rather than a simple concise order). The two gentlemen behind the counter were very nice and helped us tremendously. We'd stop by again if we're ever in the area, for sure!

This is a walk up window not a business you enter. We had to try the mini donuts, we got chocolate over top of ours. They are so good. Must try. We will go back next visit!!
